This image is a little dark - but in good light there is a lot of great detail

judging from the anvils and the horseshoes on the wall I’m thinking this is a blacksmiths shop.

From John to his mother Mrs. Lena Hess so I assume this is John Hess and his coworker

I did find a Dan Hess who gives blacksmithing demonstrations at Old World Wisconsin so maybe he is a descendent. I found a lot of Hess people in Wisconsin.
