In this famous building, which formerly stood on the
corner of 20th& Cary Sts., thousands of captured Federal
officers were imprisoned during the war. On oheoccasion 19 successfully effected their escape by tunnelling under its walls. Was dismantled in 1893, re-erected in Otsegofor exhibition purposes during the
World's Fairand isnow there.
