BIG ROUND TOP FROM DEVIL'S DEN, GETTYSBURG, PA.—This view from the rear of Devil's Den shows the position of Smith's New York Battery. They, together with the supporting infantry, made a gallant stand, and when finally forced to retire were compelled to abandon a part of the battery. Big Round Top, showing in the background, was the extreme left of the main line of the Union army.
