9 LIGHT INFANTRY SERGEANT, 1778 BRITISH 5th REGIMENT OF FOOT First organized in 1674, they were known as_the Irish Regiment. They arrived in Boston in 1774. The Grenadiers and Light Companies were at Con- cord and Lexington. also fought in the Battles of Long Island, Pell's Point, White Plains, Brandywine, Germantown, Monmouth Courthouse and Chestnut Neck.
