CAMP DAVIS, located 30 miles

north of

Wilmington, and only 5 miles from the Atlan-

tic Ocean, was

Major General

Richmond P. Davis, native of North Carolina,

who distinguished himself while serving with

the A. E.

F. in World War 1. Authorized

strength of the camp, composed

of coast ar-

tillery units, is 20,000 officers and men.

Shown here is the small arms firing range,

¿ where troops brush up on their marksman-

ship. Although rifles are used in basic train-

ing, principal training weapons are 155 mm

tractor-drawn, 3-inch, 37 mm and machine

guns.
