UNITED NEWS CO.. 24 WEST JEFFERSON AVENUE, DETROIT, MICH. On May 1st, 1923, the new Belle Isle Bridge was formally opened to the public. This bridge, erected under the supervision of the Department of Public Works, cost $3,000,000. wide, and sidewalks on either wide each. It has 19 spans and a clearance of 30 feet.
