Fountain of the Fairies is probably the best named formation in the Carlsbad Cavern, but it is located in such an inaccessible place that it is. very difficult to see it; located as it is, 900 feet below the surface of the earth. This onyx for- mation was formed with the drying up of under- ground springs which allowed the onyx to collect around the points of stalactites which were hanging down toward the water surface.
