THE MEMORIAL AMPHITHEATRE The Memorial Amphitheatre was provided through the efforts of the Grand Army of the Republic to secure a fitting memorial to our soldier dead and a suitable assembly place for the thousands in attendance at the services of Decoration Day. It is huilt of marble in the form of an ellipse at a cost of about $1,000,000. The structure will seat 5,000 people in the amphitheatre proper and several thousand more in the colonnade.
