3 OFFICER, 1778 BAYLOR'S DRAGOONS This Regiment was raised in 1777 as the Third Continental Regiment of Light Horse. They served as couriers, escorts for General Washington and for foraging and intelligence. They were surprised by the British at Tappan September, Reorganized under Major William Washington, they were sent to take part in the Southern Campaign, fighting at Charleston, Cowpens, Guil- ford Courthouse Hobkirks Hill, Camden and Eutaw Springs.
