Mt. Rushmore, Shrine of Democracy, Black Hills of South Dakota. Expression in living granite of the soul of this republic. Great, not alone in heroic proportions, but in magnificent symbolism of divine inspiration in the building, development and pre servation of a priceless heritage, government based upon Liberty, Equality and the Dignity of Man. Work on Mt. Rushmore was begun in 1927 and car ried on through the years by the World Renowned Sculptor, Gutzon Borglum. After the death of the sculptor in 1941, the work was completed by his son, Lincoln Borglum. Figures are in proportion to a man 465 feet tall. # R11 Bell Studio.
